Juliet Lawson is indeed a rare
talent - she writes bittersweet songs that
reflect her wry and often witty view of modern
life.
Born in London, Juliet learned
to play the piano at school and decided early on
that she wanted to be an artist.
She went on to
study theatre design at Wimbledon College of Art
and worked as the assistant designer at the
Royal Court Theatre.
She joined a rock band called
Wooden House, wrote dozens of songs and was
finally signed to Sovereign Records which
released her first highly acclaimed album called
Boo in 1973.
It sold over 3,000 copies in the
first two months and received ecstatic reviews
in a number of publications as diverse as Melody
Maker and the Daily Telegraph.
Following the success of Boo,
Juliet recorded another two albums and wrote
music for a TV show and a musical which was
staged in London. |
