THE WEEDS IN THE
YARD
Copyright Juliet
Lawson
Oh how long willit
take
The weeds have gone
right up the yard
I’ve been beating my
fists
On the wall
Yes, I know that it’s
hard
You told me that this
time last year
And progress is just
an old raincoat
So where do we go for
repair
And maybe I owe you an
apology
Maybe not
Maybe I owe you
A whole lot of
something
I just haven’t got
But I’ll do what I can
Help me get over the
red light
I’ve been wrapped in a
cellophane bag
I’ve been living way
under the pillow
I stare at the clouds
on the ceiling
I push up my nose to
the glass
I’m living the whole
thing
All over again
And here we are at
last
And maybe I owe you an
apology
Maybe not
Maybe I owe you a
whole lot of something
I just haven’t got
But I’ll do what I can
Oh how long must we
wait
I’ve been lost in a
dinghy at sea
And the weeds have
grown right up the yard
Someone’s beating
their fists
Back at me |
