AFFAIRS OF THE
HEART
Copyright Juliet
Lawson
I have no time
For affairs of the
heart
Simply no more time
For affairs of the
heart
And now that the
damage
Is done to the heart
I have to let go of it
I have to break free
I’m through with the
angst
And I don’t want the
pain
Locked out at midnight
In the wind and the
rain
I’ve been there before
I don’t want to go
back again
All those chocolates
and flowers
Meaningful glances
that go on
For hours and hours
We talk of
relationships
We talk about us
Candlelight metaphors
For betrayal of trust
And then it all gets
lost
In the heat and the
dust
Of the heart
And those who still
say it with flowers
Running up phone bills
While they fester for
hours
While the candlelight
flickers
And the atmosphere
sours
I have no time
For affairs of the
heart
Simply no more time
For affairs of the
hear
We could try being
friends
That would do for a
