ROLLING BACK

Clear blue light
Electricity
didn’t the summers
always used to be
like that
1958 a drought in
Lancashire
but now !’m swept
aside
by a tidal wave
my how it all comes
rolling back
roll out the carpet
roll along the next
track
heard some news this
morning
shook me like a wet
rag
when I was feeling
full of chapters
that have to be
written again
I left a storm hanging
low on Paris
and I lost my heart in
Rome
now I’ve joined up
with a wagon train
and it’s going to take
me home
and I feel so glad
I never cried so long
My how it all comes
rolling back
Roll out the carpet
Roll aong the next
track
Ooh la la played the
harlequin
Then danced like a
crippled clown
I kept on laughing
through the bad years
Till my luck got
turned around
Now I’m going where
the crow flies
And the skipper I know
well
And he’s coming to
take me home
My how it all comes
rolling back |
